Hannah is the great-granddaughter of Dudley Dursley. As far down the line from great-great-grandmamma Petunia as Hannah is, one would think that all wizarding blood would have been washed clean out of the Dursely family for good, but it is not so.

Hannah was however, to be born altogether different from any in the family line before her. Hannah was born with a rare condition called Bilateral Anophthalmia in which a fetus develops without eyes. Instead Hannah has a flat stretch of skin where they should be. Life was difficult for the girl growing up, not because of her blindness but because of her own mother’s belittling and biting remarks and the blows she inflicted that came out of nowhere. When Hannah was six her father divorced the evil woman and by the time Hannah was seven was already remarried. This new, rather young woman was a dream and encouraged each and every child to follow their hearts and do what made them happy.

Hannah discovered the ability to see through the eyes of animals much to her fright one day while listening to a blue bird at her window. She suddenly saw leaves, the sky and a nest full of little eggs. This terrified her but stirred hope inside her to hone her skills in it.

Upon receiving her letter she was immediately horrified, that is until her stepmother Sarah confided in her that she too was a witch and had attended Hogwarts going so far as to accredit her perpetually clean home to her charms instructor. During this discussion Hannah explained seeing through the eyes of a bird and Sarah identified the ability as the rare Videns Animalium (Sight of the animals) trait. After making a pact not to tell her father about Sarah, because that would make things “A bit difficult to manage,” they set off to prepare for school.
