Personality

At first glance he could seem a bit quiet and reserved, perhaps a bit of a misfit. But he loves to talk and be part of the group, if not the center of it. He has a bit of a darker, cruel side to him. And could be described as narcissistic when he's older. Due to his compulsive lying, he can get very defensive when accused or confronted with something. Willing to physically defend himself if he must, even though he most likely would lose. Around some he has a better-than-thou air about him, not for blood purity or financial reasons, but to make up for inadequacies he feels in himself, and will take jabs at others to make himself feel better.

While born into well off, pureblood family, Carey was often pushed aside for his 'perfect' older brother, a Ravenclaw, when he was little and has grown resentful of him. His brother was often cruel to him behind his parents backs, teasing him and furthur fueling Carey's resentment towards him. And his parents never believed him when he complained of it. Though this dislike goes beyond mere sibling rivalry, though he can't remember what it was that made him so hateful of his brother. He doens't know it but his brother had wiped his memory of the event, though the feelings are still there. His parents put all their time and efforts into his brother and Carey was often left pushed aside and left alone with the house elves. His moments of escape where often the social gatherings and parties his parents would host. He'd lose himself among the crowds and weave his way though the groups being as small as he was.

In those parties he learned how to be more outgoing as the adults liked to have him around. He learned what people were really like, as well as how fake they were, learning that lying was the way in which to get the things he wanted. He attitude had been taking a turn for the worst his brothers last few years at school, when said event happened, becoming more prone to angry outbursts. The anger he felt towards his brother he often took out on the house elves, and later, a few other children.

His brother having moved out two years back, he hoped his parents affections would return to him, but they hadn't. They were still very wrapped up in their own work and he was still pushed to the side as the second, not as good child because of his behavior. Previous temper tantrums got worse as he neared ten and his parents sought a councilor. Sessions ended just before school, as he'd mostly reined in his emotions, though bitterness was still there, just more internalization. He takes medication to regulate his mood. He has also found that the few months before school started he had to concentrate a lot more to focus and see things. Smaller signs he often can't read, but he's to stubborn to admit he needs glasses. Though how rapidly his eyesight is faltering now that school has started is a bit concerning.
