Flourish and Blott's was by far Humphrey's favorite shop in Diagon Alley. He loved learning, and always looked forward to buying his new course books. Also, he loved reading in general, he was a bibliophile, or a bookworm you could say. This shop could occupy him for hours at a time.

After he bought his course books, Humphrey found a blank book. It would be perfect to write his story in, at the moment he was just using a plain journal. Writing in this though, would make him feel much more like an official author. So, he purchased it, and then went to read in the biographies section. Picking up a biography on a person named Harry Potter, he began to read. It was a story unlike anything he had heard before, and before he knew it he had finished the book. Shocked, he looked up, and saw somebody else in the shop.

"Hello, who's there?" It looked to be somebody near his age, but he couldn't tell yet. Her back was turned to him at the moment.

Heather browsed the store, looking for the appropriate books for school. Heather was always excited about a new year at school. But at a wizarding school, she just could not wait!

She wandered into the biography section of the store. She was meant to be looking for school books, but she figured she'd have enough time to quickly check out some biographies.

"Hello, who's there?" Heather heard. She turned around to see a young boy around her age. She noticed he was holding a biography on Harry Potter. Heather's mum had told her about Harry Potter before she left for school.

"Oh, hello there," she said with a friendly smile.

When the girl turned around, he was surprised to see she had pinkish red hair. That was interesting, he didn't know many people in the wizarding world who dyed their hair. Then again, he had about people who were called metamorphagi or something like that. Maybe she had that ability. Either way, she seemed friendly enough; besides, she was in the biography section of the store so that must mean she likes books. Anybody who likes books is okay in Humphrey's book.

"Hi, I'm Humphrey. What's your name?" he asked her, smiling. "Also, why is your hair pinkish red? Kind of curious about that, I do like it though. Looks pretty cool."

When the boy introduced himself, Heather felt so happy inside. This could be the start of a friendship. And even better, he noticed her hair. Heather was always one to get worked up and excited about even the smallest things. "My name is Heather! It's nice to meet you," she said with a big smile on her face.

As her spirit lifted, her hair changed yellow, due to her happy mood. A little embarrassed, she blushed and twirled a piece of her hair nervously. "Um well, as you can probably tell now, I'm a metamorphagus. My natural hair colour is actually brown and I dyed it red. I know you're probably thinking I'm so weird since normal witches and wizards don't usually dye their hair. But I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I actually grew up living a muggle life," she said, whispering her secret to him, her hair colour changing back to red/pink.

It was crazy! She hadn't even been looking at this boy for more than 5 minutes and she was already telling him secrets. Although, Heather did talk a lot and she loved making new friends. But deep down, Heather did feel she would get along with him quite well.

Wow, this girl got happy about random things. "Nice to meet you too Heather." he told her, laughing just a bit. "You seem like a very energetic type. That's good, because I'm that way too. So what brings you over to the biographies section?" Humphrey asked Heather.

Suddenly Heather's hair changed to yellow. Ah, so she was a metamorphagus. It was a pretty cool talent, but he heard that the hair changed color to reflect your emotions. He figured that it might be annoying at times. Sure enough, she blushed and played with her hair after the color change. "I can tell, and I think it's really cool. No I don't think it's weird, it's really cool actually. Don't worry about it, I grew up Muggle as well, first person in my family to have an magic whatsoever." Most people weren't this open to begin with, but he was glad she was. For some reason, Humphrey already knew they would become good friends.

"Are you a first year, I don't remember seeing you at Hogwarts last year?" he asked. "It is a really great place Hogwarts, lots of fun things to do there. Everybody's really nice too, there aren't many guys though. Sometimes I feel like I am the only male student, except for Carey. Anyways, I bet you are going to love it, practically everybody does."

"Well, I'm actually hear to get my school books. But I just came across this section and decided to have a quick look," she said.

"Yes, it's my first year. It really does look like a nice place. I can't wait for my first day! I've always loved school," she explained. Heather had always been a straight A student and loved every subject. There were a few select subjects she wasn't so good at, but she would always study hard to try and get better.

"Anyway, I've still got to do a lot of shopping! I'll see you later, Humphrey," she said, waving as she left.

"Yea, that's why I came too. I already got those already though. This store always swallows me up. There's just so many books." Humphrey told her.

"Wow, another person who actually likes school. Now I won't be the only one." he admitted, laughing. School had always been one of the things he loved, learning was just a passion of his. Even when he wasn't in school he was always trying to learn new things. Read good books, sometimes even educational ones.

He waved as Heather left. "Have fun with your shopping, guess I'll see you around. Later Heather." With that the first metamorphagus he met walked away. Interesting girl, but she seemed pretty cool.
